This is a song I wrote a while back with my friend Jim...the first arrangement I did of this tune harked back to a Pop - boppy "What a Fool Believes" kind of infectious rhythm. I've re-tooled the song into a more contemporary "R&B" style (whatever that is supposed to be)... I also inserted a "rap" section, which with the right vocalist could sound more credible...
The point of the demo (sung with the Flu) is to point towards a "Four Tops" kind of thing, where the vocals are traded off, or,––OR–– an 'Al Green meets Al Jarreau' kind of delivery ... with a would-be trio backing the main vocalist. Either way, it's still a catchy tune. Haven't lost hopes for this tune.
LYRICS:
I must be transparent
everybody knows
the way I feel about you
I can’t hide it I suppose
this maniac expression
on my face when you’re around
talking like I’m crazy and acting like a clown
I know I ought to tell you
though I’m sure you’ve got a clue
But saying I love you is so hard for me to do
it’s one thing or another, the time is never right
the moon’s too big or small,
the night too dark or light
So I made myself a promise
to put it on the line
life’s too short to waste
what could be very precious time
I’m going to show I love you baby
you’re going to know I love you baby
somehow I’ll find a Way...
(I can send a letter,
roses by the score…
I’ll Find a Way…
I can write a poem
—slip it underneath your door
Yes I’ll Find a Way…
stop you on the street
and say it’s you that I adore
fantasy and dreaming
won’t make it anymore
I just want to hold you
feel my face against your hair
still I haven’t told you
just how much I really care
to wake up every morning
with you lying by my side
is worth whatever risk
of damaging my pride
Did I see you smile
what’s that twinkle in your eyes
tell me what you’re thinking
I can’t see through your disguise
give some indication
a nod a wink a glance
guess I could be wrong
I’ll just have to take that chance
Now I made myself a promise…
(chorus repeats...)
(Rap/ad lib:)
Every time I see you
See you walking down the street
I feel like telling everybody
Everybody that I meet
You are the girl that I adore
I could never ask for more
And I’ve known that it’s true
Since I first saw you
And I wake up every morning
Knowing we’ll be fine
And I’m calling out your name
cuz someday you’ll be mine...
(chorus repeats...)
